The Hansa Hebmüller was found in the 60ies in a German farm by a Belgian car enthusiast. It was hidden and stored in a chicken shed… so the status how the car was, was for sure not the best. But with that in mind and knowing that it was a rare car, the owner decided to buy it and restore it as good as possible. As a BMW mechanic for a living, he knew the mechanical parts could not be a problem. For the body work, he asked his buddy and friend to help him. Within a few years, the Hansa became a car again. Most of the work was done at home in the tiny garage under his house in Antwerp Belgium. The car has an original 6 cylinder Borgward engine and gearbox. All the parts are original and are restored. The car was found with red pait on the sides but when sanding the body the owner found out that it was ivory and the wings were black. On the first trip the car drove well for about 30 km and after tha it stopped… after a check, it was clear that the tank had some rust issue and carb was dirty. Then another 30 km further...the same problem. When he got home, the owner opened the tank and cleaned all out. After that he plated zinc on it and put it back together. Since discovery, the car stayed in hands of the current owner in Belgium and used often to attend meetings, most of them in the Borgward scene. The owner said it is a fun car to drive but is also hard working as a driver. (PS)
